OUR STORY

A loom is the oldest
internet there is.

For a thousand years, knowledge travelled across Asia thread by thread — hand to hand, mother to daughter. The Laleh Project exists to keep those hands working, and to carry their stories the last mile to your floor.

WHY WE EXIST

Machine-made rugs are cheaper and faster, and that is precisely the problem. Every time a power-loom replaces a weaver, a few hundred years of inherited skill goes quiet. We buy directly from artisans across Asia — at prices they set — so that the next generation still has a reason to sit at the loom.

WHERE OUR MAKERS ARE

One project, many hands across Asia

Direct & fair

No middlemen, no auction houses. We pay the maker their asking price, in full, before the rug ever ships.

Truly traceable

Every piece arrives with the name of who made it, where, and how long it took. The story is the product.

Made to last

Natural fibres, natural dyes, knots that outlive us. A good rug should be inherited, not replaced.

A Note From The Founder

“My Dada (grandfather) infused in me the love for rugs and built me a cardboard loom when I was a kid. To this day, working with my hands on a loom is still magical, and the story every rug tells is still fascinating.”

Bring a story home

Every rug you take in keeps a loom turning somewhere across Asia. That is the whole idea.
